I’m in Mexico right now.  I’ve been here for 3 weeks; I’m a visiting scholar at the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco.  Because of the swine flu epidemic, the university has suspended classes until May 6 as a preventative measure.  There are no reported cases in this state but officials are taking prevention seriously.  So, I’m cutting my trip short and heading home to Canada. I just had this conversation on omegle.com (more…)

gbhcover-medium Liz Meyer, one of my friends from my doctoral days at McGill, has just published her first book: Gender, Bullying and Harassment: Strategies to End Sexism and Homophobia in Schools. There are a series of book launch events planned for the next few months; if you’re interested, you can read more about Liz’s schedule and her other projects at her website.

Liz and I were members of the same PhD writing group so I feel pretty confident in my suggestion that this book is a worthwhile read for anyone who has an interest in social justice and education.
