I’m in Mexico right now. I’ve been here for 3 weeks; I’m a visiting scholar at the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco. Because of the swine flu epidemic, the university has suspended classes until May 6 as a preventative measure. There are no reported cases in this state but officials are taking prevention seriously. So, I’m cutting my trip short and heading home to Canada. (more…)

Liz Meyer, one of my friends from my doctoral days at McGill, has just published her first book: Gender, Bullying and Harassment: Strategies to End Sexism and Homophobia in Schools. There are a series of book launch events planned for the next few months; if you’re interested, you can read more about Liz’s schedule and her other projects at her website.
Liz and I were members of the same PhD writing group so I feel pretty confident in my suggestion that this book is a worthwhile read for anyone who has an interest in social justice and education.
