I made the move to Apple. I now am the proud owner of a Macbook Pro and I love it! I don’t exactly know how to fully use it yet but I’m getting there. Also, my cool hipster rating has likely sky-rocketed. I just need an iPhone and I will have arrived.
I haven’t been much of a blogger these last few months, I’m afraid. Classes end next week and I plan to take care of some much needed maintenance to this page then…
…which means that I have haven’t updated my status in 7 days. This has never happened to me before. It must be SSHRC season…
Thanks to my friends Allison and Janine’s postings on Facebook, I now have this video response to Stephen Harper’s comments of last week.
I’m not clear on how these statements by Stephen Harper are even possible (especially considering the fact that Stephen Harper, on behalf of Canada, apologized to former students of residential schools just last year) but apparently Canada has “no history of colonialism.”
Globe and Mail columnist Margaret Wente had this to say in yesterday’s paper.
Classes start Tuesday at the university where I work. The preparation of my courses is mostly complete but I’m working over the long weekend to get some writing out of the way.
I’ll be in Toronto from August 17-19 for a conference: Prescriptivism(e) & Patriotism(e): From Nationalism to Globalization. I’ll be giving one paper, listening to lots of interesting talks and I get to hang out in Toronto for a few days. I’m really looking forward to it.
This website is either someone’s final project for an introduction to web design course or just someone’s idea of fun. Either way, themostamazingwebsiteontheinternet.com, which feels like a flashback to 1998, makes me laugh every time I look at it. (The gif cat to the left is featured in the website.)
